The golden rule of moving: don't pay to move things you don't want. Decluttering before a move saves you money on moving costs, reduces packing time, and gives you a fresh start in your new home. Our room-by-room decluttering checklist makes the process systematic and manageable.

For each room, the template provides categories of items commonly found there, with four action columns: Keep, Donate, Sell, and Trash. This forces you to make a conscious decision about every category of belongings rather than blindly packing everything.

Start this process 6-8 weeks before your move. Schedule one room per weekend. List items for sale on marketplace apps early to give them time to sell. Schedule a donation pickup for 2 weeks before moving day. You'll be amazed how much lighter your move becomes.
